This Municipal Solid Waste Recycling System, developed by Battelle in collaboration with the Bouldin Corporation, allows the recycling of unsorted municipal solid waste into safe, usable products. A patented process converts the waste to a material that resembles mulch, with applications that include soil amendment for erosion control and revegetation of barren land and growing material for nurseries and greenhouses. It was awarded a 2005 R&D 100 Award.
